I just got done watching a video where the guy had two of the new Asus ROG Ares II cards and when he over clocked them he lost points in his benchmarks

Bottlenecks don't work that way. It was either faked, or there was something else going on. If it were a bottleneck, the benchmark would have stayed the same. (And, just so you know, an i5-3570k won't bottleneck a pair of 7970s.)

Considering most people here are gamers you're not going to get an absolute answer.

Yes an i5 will bottleneck 2 high end cards, no program that fully uses 2x high end cards 100% all of the time can run on an i5, for instance, Editing/rendering that uses 2-4 Cards can't use a single i5 or even i7 sometimes.

The only reason gamers can't see bottlenecks is because their cards are never used to a high enough level for the bottlenecks to show, hence people running i5 with 2-4 cards.

If you could state your purpose it would help.

Thanks
