17" native 1024x768 ?

I realize most of you on this forum want faster, bigger and higher resolutions. Unfortunately, I'm no longer 20 years old and wear bifocals. I find the native resolution of most 17" LCD of 1280x1024 to be just too small for me to take on a daily basis.

Has anyone ever heard of a 17" LCD with a native resolution of 1024 x 768? That, I think, might work just fine for me.

Of course, like you, I want the best colors, view area, etc, but just didn't know if such an LCD existed.

You can find 17" LCD TV's with 1024x768 native resolution that will function just as well as PC monitors. However they are generally more expensive than a regular LCD monitor:

I wasn't able to find any plain ol' LCD monitors that meet your requirements.

Another idea: don't buy a 17" but a 19". Most of them are in 1280x1024. That should be better for you.

By the way, I've just started a review about these displays. It should be on line into one month...

I had thought about getting a 19" to run at 1280 x 1024, but someone led me to believe that I would not gain very much. The made me think that the resolution would be the same and all I would gain is more screen area. I kinda bought that story since 1280 x1024 is 1280 x 1024 no matter how you slice it.

I find 1280x1024 on a 17" too small for my liking too (sometimes I sit 5 feet away from my monitor, usually it's like 4) but at work my 18" is fine. See the res will be the same, but the pixels will be bigger so you get an overall bigger image. 19" will be fine.
