Is it stable now?
Did they fix and release some service packs?

Did they make some improvements where they finally realized that some nerds want to keep aesthetically pleasing touchscreen interfaces separate from desktop rigs?

Seriously if they want my money, it's completely up to them.

Windows 7 all the way for me!.
It works!, does what I want it to, no trouble with finding drivers for all my hardware.
And no Metro interface. What is the point I don`t have a touch screen, as it was intended for. See ya windows 8, bye.

Be sticking with Windows 7 for along time till MS drop support for it.
There is my pinch of salt on windows 8.

Well, as a nerd you should know that Win8 is a better OS than Win7 from every technical aspect. It's faster, uses less resources, has better memory management and multithreading, shorter boot times, less intrusive updates etc.
Regarding the replaced start menu, you can easily avoid it if you don't like it.

Your choice.
