-I have already purchased a 500r for the case

-I also have a spare optical drive but have been told a newer, faster optical drive will speed up ripping dvd's?

Thankyou

Solution
"Well i need to rip about 200-300 dvd's to mp4 format, rendering youtube videos and also rendering videos for iPhone format.

thats not rendering. its transcoding bro.

i was transcoding (movies) on my friends i5 and my i7 (ivy bridge) and mine wasnt that much faster (maybe 1mins for a 2hr movie?)

Thanks for the reply -

I chose the i7 for HT and i have also heard openCL acceleration is very buggy in Premiere so i chose the 660ti for CUDA and the adaptive vsync feature in games

Thanks for all your replies everyone -
I think I'll get an i5 3570k if the i7 has no considerable improvement in transcoding and i think I'll stick with the 660ti because I like the feature set nvidia has put into it. I'll buy the 750w PSU just for future-proofing.

-Just one more question will a faster optical drive increase performance while ripping dvd's?
