I'd recommend going Intel for a $1000 build... No games will benefit from 8Cores nor 8 Threads... your best to go with a AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition and a MSI 870A-G54 Socket AM3 http://www.buyxg.com/store/item.aspx?key=MB-356-202
and spend the rest of the money for a Radeon 7970
