Hello,
I am looking for cheap system to run skyrim on medium setting. I have been running all 3d games in my life on lowest setting possible, so anything good would be decent.

so 50 for cheapest intel motherboard
20 for 4g ram
50 for power
20 for case
70 for hdd

but for cpu and graphics, which one should i get?

cpu, pentium or sandy/ivy?
graphic, i got 6570. are they sufficient? deficient?

thanks for your input.

p.s. do you know where i can get used parts reliably? are ebay, craigslist fine?

You really should be basing your decision on something other than price. If you go out and say "I'm going to buy the cheapest piece of *** I can find" then you're going to end up with a cheap piece of ***.

Get 8GB. Another $20 won't kill you, and it can make a very large difference in performance. 8GB is enough memory to never worry about whether or not you have enough memory.

50 for power

Reasonable power budget. I'd recommend one of the low end Corsair builder series PSUs. They're hard to beat on the cheap side of PSUs.

20 for case

Again, don't buy the cheapest thing you can find unless you're fine with spending your money on garbage. Shipping on most cases is close to $20, planning $20 for your entire case budget is going to get you a heinous piece of junk that's hard to work with and has awful airflow. You're going to be seeing the case an awful lot. Make sure it's something you're not going to consider an eyesore.

70 for hdd

Reasonable, but you're not going to have a ton of space. Easy to upgrade in the future, though.

The 6570 happens to be one of the worst video cards on the market. However, Skyrim isn't exactly very demanding, and it can easily run the game on medium-high settings at 1080p. Just keep in mind that future games aren't going to run well, nor are more demanding games like Crysis 2 and BF3.

Ebay is good, just make sure the seller has close to 100% positive feedback, and lots of it.

Also, you're going to want a DVD drive. They're cheap, though, around $25.

The following is about the cheapest I'd build for games.

Rosewill Blackbone Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Model #:Blackbone
Item #:N82E16811147023
$49.99 -$10.00 Instant $39.99
Rosewill has had some cheaper ones, which would be acceptable, but they seem to be out of stock or discontinued. An advantage of Rosewill is, being Newegg's house brand, shipping on them is often free or reduced. I've built in this case, and it is decent.

ASRock B75M-GL LGA 1155 Intel B75 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Model #:B75M-GL
Item #:N82E16813157326
$69.99 -$10.00 Instant $59.99
You might save $5-$10 here, but you'd give up a lot dropping back to a H61 or H67 chipset board.

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card (11202-00-20G )
Model #:11202-00-20G
Item #:N82E16814102969
Mail in Rebate Card
$109.99 -$15.00 Instant $94.99
You don't need a $300 graphics card to play games, but you probably don't want to go much (if any) lower than this. A GDDR5 version of the HD6670 is the absolute lowest I'd go for a gamer, but that only saves $10 or so and gives up too much.
If necessary, you could start with your existing HD6570; it ought to run the game on [mostly] low settings. Judge how much of an improvement you need, and plan a new graphics card as your first upgrade.

Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power ...
Model #:EA-380D Green
Item #:N82E16817371033
$59.99 -$15.00 Instant $44.99
Has been my goto PSU in basic builds for years. Can power any graphics card with a single PCIe power connector (like a HD7770). It's built by Delta, an OEM I trust a little more than CWT, who makes the Corsair Builders.

Intel Pentium G850 Sandy Bridge 2.9GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623G850
Model #:BX80623G850
Item #:N82E16819116397
$69.99 $69.99
Skyrim likes a powerful CPU, so I wouldn't go any lower here, and get an i3 if you can.

G.SKILL NS 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-4GBNS
Model #:F3-10600CL9D-4GBNS
Item #:N82E16820231394
$19.99 $19.99
8GB is nice, but on a budget, 4GB will do, especially if it lets you afford a better graphics card or CPU.

Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Model #:WD1002FAEX
Item #:N82E16822136533
$149.99 -$40.00 Instant $109.99
You could easily go cheaper here, BUT, most other drive makers have been cutting their warranties. This suggests a change in materials or methods in which the vendors have little confidence; neither do I. This WD Black drive still has a five year warranty. It is also a good performer. They're also quieter than they used to be; I just bought two not long ago, and they make no more noise than other drives, and less than some.

LG DVD Burner Black SATA Model GH24NS90 - OEM
Model #:GH24NS90
Item #:N82E16827136247
$17.99 $17.99
One optical drive is much like another, although this one does not have Lightscribe.

Subtotal: $457.92

Sorry if I am going off topic...
How about listing your current PC parts, perhaps you do not really need a new complete new PC..

The detail level is most affected by GPU.

CPU and graphics, I'd say a Sandy or Ivy Pentium for CPU and the GPU is dependent on your target resolution and settings. A 6570 is probably not suitable for medium settings on any modern screen.
