AMD extends B0 stepping to all XP CPUs!!!

AMD decided to move all XP processors to the B0 stepping Thoroughbred core! Does this mean an XP1600+ might be overclockable to 2100MHz/2600+ speeds at 200MHz bus (DDR400), using the nForce2? Draw your own conclusions, that would be a good discussion for the Overclocking forum. It would mean that, yes... except that I think that the 1600+ will be ending production very soon... unless AMD ends up finding out that people want the 1600s.

This could potentially have AMD rival the 50% triumph the NW 1.6A had, and indeed prove that AMD CPUs are still viable for excellent price/performance overclocking under retail conditions or perhaps improved air.
I do hope this turns out a very powerful value, as this just shows that competition is fierce, and that AMD is still trying to show Intel that they're not done yet.

Or more likely, they don't care about you, it's simply cheaper to make all the chips identicle than to run separate lines.

I wouldnt bet on a guaranteed 2100 Mhz overclock, after all, the majority of these cpu's will have failed the 2600+ speedbinning, seeing AMD still doesnt ship enormous quantities at this speed. No such thing as a free lunch. But you might be lucky of course.

BTW crash, you'r kind of a die hard Northwood overclocker, arent you ? Did you ever see a Northwood sudden death syndrome ? What voltages/speeds do you run yours ?

He doesn't have one but it seems he was right, the Intel 0.13m process has problems with 1.75V and above operation. If you stay at 1.6V, you ain't gonna run into potential problems but at 1.7V, watch it.

Good thinking ! Sell them a warranty-voided, overclocked P4 at a premium price, and sell them new cpu's every 3 months :)

LOL, I've never had an overclocked CPU burn, I'm more carefull than that (except on my own system which seems indestructable).
