Best GPU a Phenom II X4 940 can handle

As the title states what would be the best GPU i could get for my processor?

Current machine:
Antec Nine Hundred
AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0ghz stock
Stock AMD cooler
8gb DDR2 ram
GTX 260
1tb Seagate Barracuda
Coolmax 700w PSU

well then i guess ill have to look for a new CPU because i was hoping to get the HD 7950, any suggestions on what processor to get?

u can get the hd7950 i didnt know what ur budget was

my budget for a graphics card would be 250$-350$ and if i cant get a good one for gaming with this processor i would have 800$ to upgrade the other components

cool i was kind of worried about it when looking around online. i would much rather go the cheaper route of just getting a new GPU then have to completely rebuild.

ur gonna get bottlenecked by the 7970. id say a 7850 would be the max id recommand.
