The cheapest i5 is like $180 an i7 like $280, a decent z77 motherboard around $120, a decent gpu like a 7770 about $120, a better case about $50-90, led 22"monitor about $120, keyboard $40, psu, $50-70, totaling more than $600

At $680 with the cheapest i5, a $120 z77 board, a 7770, a $50 case, $120 monitor, $40 keyboard, $50 case, $40 in ram, and $50 in a psu like a corsair cx430/500

At $700 b4 shipping, got

$50 Case ASUS 21.5" Monitor - $145 XFX 7770 w/ free cod 4- $125 Corsair cx 430- 45 ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 with free 8gb ddr3 - $135 Intel i5 3470 - $200 or go 3570k at $230 with 15$ off promo code

Only missing a keyboard but alrdy $100 over ur max budget

Could continue using ur keyboard and lcd to save money or use a hdmi tv for the resolution, and buy them later, of course selling ur old i3 and motherboard/ram would bring some money in

i5 3470 - $189
ASRock B75M -$59
Corsair CX430 - $35 (with rebate)
HD7770 - $115
Monitor - $150
Case - $50 (I'd recommend something cheap with USB3.0. Rosewill Redbone, NZXT Source etc)

Total - $600

That's about as close to your ideas as anyone will get, and it's a little imbalanced. It's a really good CPU combined with a fairly weak graphics card. For a machine aimed at solely gaming, you want to be spending more on graphics (probably more than the CPU). What this means is that either your budget is too small, or you perhaps should rethink needing an i5.

As an example, here is a slightly random $500 Intel budget gaming PC which is more inclined towards gaming.
