Hello, my name is Nate. I am having an issue with my Vaio desktop PC, model number PCV C42L. Every time I turn it on, any action I take ( such as clicking the START icon or using shortcuts) causes the computer to freeze. The image gets distorted, and after a few seconds the screen will flash black and be back to normal. After so many times, the screen stays black, then gives a BSOD saying the NV4_Disp is stuck in an infinite loop.
Originally, I'd had a virus. After running full Malwarebytes and MSE scans, it was removed. Then the BSOD started. I have taken the graphics card out and made sure it was inserted correctly and tightly. I have cleaned dust out, and I have uninstalled my NVIDIA driver and updated it. No matter what I do, BSOD is there. I now can only use the computer during safe mode. Internet access is a no-no, because even with Safe Mode with Networking, my computer won't connect to wifi.
Is this a graphics card issue, or is it the work of a really nasty virus? My system info is as follows:
System: Microsoft Windows XP; Professional; Version 2002; Service Pack 3
Computer: intel; pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM.
Thank you in advance for any help! Unfortunately, I'm not exactly tech savvy, so I may need help looking up some of the logs that may help.
