Hello all, thanks for taking the time and reading my post.

I currently have a six year old rig, and I play quite a bit on it. Unfortunately, the mobo is having post issues and only starts up once every four attempts. Long story short, I'm looking to get a new computer.

I already have the following components:
- Power Supply 500W
- HDD
- GPU
- Case

Now, by my understanding that leaves me with the following components to buy:
- Mobo
- CPU
- Ram
- Possibly higher Power Supply
- Possibly more internal cooling/new case

I was once quite savvy with computer building, but have since fallen into obscurity on the subject. I will point out a couple of things to answer some unneeded pieces of advice ahead of time.

1. I am uninterested in Overclocking. I don't mind dealing with stock speeds, as all I do is play games and go online. If not overclocking means I play on "High" instead of "Ultra" then I can deal with that.
2. I have absolutely no idea what to look for on the mobo side of things.
3. I can't seem to find a definitive answer as to why I would need an i7 over an i5.
4. I preferred intel, and imagine I would still do so today.

Now that I have bored you to death, here is what I am looking at getting. If my choices are asinine, that's why I'm here! To fix it!

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k 3.4GHz LGA 1155
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131714
Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231501
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 Ti

Really, I need to know if my mobo/CPU combo is ridiculous. I know I have matched ram speeds/pin count, and I know it's capable of SLi/Crossfire. But beyond that, I don't know if there is another mobo that does everything that one does for less. The other main issue I have is power supply. I have used calculators, and based on what I have it seems my 500W would be fine. Most people have always over-reacted when it comes to power supplies. My only other question is cooling; I have a couple stock fans, but nothing beyond that. I'm not terribly interested in some crazy internal cooling system since I'm only running one GPU, so maybe suggest different cases if it sounds like I would have overheating problems.

I know it was long-winded, but I trust this community based on what I see. I really appreciate all responses. Thanks!

They discontinued the 980X a long time ago but you can still find it at Newegg. Doesn't mean retailers will run out of stock any time soon.

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I appreciate it.

I had no idea the k meant it was unlocked. That saves me money, so yay on that front.

If I need a new PSU, what should I aim for? 600, 650?

Nobody mentioned my mobo, so I assume that's a fine choice? Same with the ram?

Any advice on cases; is there a case manufacturer that is affordable but reliable? I don't want to spend too much, maybe 75 bucks on a case.

Thanks again, all!

Can't argue with that!

Way overpriced for a P67, get this instead - it's 1/2 the money and if you're not going to overclock you don't need the features. Try this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128550

And get this for RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148544

The difference will allow you to upgrade your GPU to a Radeon 7870 GHz edition - no point in a 560TI anymore: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102983

Thanks, so helpful.

I was deadset on 16gb of ram at 2133. Should I not be? You guys keep bumping me down.

Also, the reason I listed the 560 Ti is because I already have one. If I could resell it at a decent price and bump up I would be okay with that, otherwise I will stick the Ti until I get a bit more money. How much do you think I could sell it for?

RAM speed beyond 1600 is really pointless. The design of Ivy Bridge puts the RAM controller on the CPU itself as opposed to the motherboard, and Intel will void your warranty if you go over that. Messing with the speeds and voltages of your RAM can lead to serious system instability.

If you want to get a second 560TI and SLI it, that's fine.
