i have this problem with a friends computer running
win98se. she has a hp psc 2110 a-i-w printer. it always
worked before but then it all of a sudden didnt. i have
tried re-installing the hp software, and that did nothing.
ive tried everything but nothing works. when i try to add
it window will not pick it up, nor will it see the drivers
on the cd disc, ive even copied the proper directory onto
the hard drive and that does nothing as well. i tried
looking for updates but found none. i then realized that
under taskmanager, the spool file or whatever it is (im
not sure by the way) is not running, and i believe it
should be for the printer to work or be recognized. under
my computer (winxp pro) i know how to start the spool file
up and running but under win98se, i dont and im stuck very
much. if anyone has an idea of what i can or should do
please write back and help both i and my friend will
greatly appreciate it. thanx.

p.s. i hope this post is detailed enough for everyone
and not to detailed that no one understands (lol).

Have you unplugged the printer cable from the computer and printer and reseated it on both ends. Another thing you can do is to go to www.hp.com and click on support and drivers and download the latest drivers for your OS. And try installing those. If none of that works try swapping out a known good printer cable and if that doesn't work then you may have to purchase a new printer.
