Budget $1000

Location- USA

Sites im willing to buy from? Any legit site.

new parts only.

Simplely put I dont care if its AMD/Intel or ATI/Nvidia

I want to know what the best computer I can build for $1000----- Only need desktop have everything else.

Cost with shipping cannot exceed $1000-----must be $1000 before rebates.

The only thing that I seem to know right now is that I can get a gtx 480 new for around $150 seems like the best deal.

Going to be playing older games like killing floor, guild wars, dark souls and so on with some new ones later on.

I honestly am so far out of the loop on desktops that its not even funny.

There's about $200 left for you to choose a case/monitor/keyboard/mouse/OS.
If you already have those things, then you can always upgrade your video card to a 7950 for about $200 more dollars.

If you happen to live by a Microcenter, that processor can be had for $189.99 in-store only.

Decent place to start.

This build that I've come up with is intended for overclocking and gaming it should be a very nice mid high-range gaming machine though. It'd also be pretty good for video editing and things like that too if you're into that sort of thing. The MSI Radeon HD 7870 HAWK is the MSI Lightning's smaller brother. It uses the company's signature Twin Frozr II dual-fan cooler. MSI has also increased the clock speeds of the HD 7870 HAWK to 1100 MHz GPU and 1200 MHz memory.

Here my suggestion

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($154.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($88.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: MSI Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card ($247.86 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair 500R White ATX Mid Tower Case ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Antec Neo Eco 520W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($46.98 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-222BB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer ($21.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $980.75

Sadly yes i wish it was not true.AMD used to be nice because it was considered a cheaper alternative to Intel that would still get you pretty decent performance. That's not really the case anymore though, because their newest processors aren't much of an improvement over their last generation of processors. They're best 8-core cpu barely keeps up with the Intel i5 2400.

GO TO MICRO CENTER and SAVE 50 -100 dollars!!

get a 3570k bc overclocking will save you in the long run

7870 is great pricing and 7950
(dont recomend 660 ti)

NEVER get ANYTHING from ocz!!!!
power suply cables are EAY to short!!! ~15inch or 44 cm
(need at LEAST 2-3 more inches

Sli-800w+
single-500w-700w
i would get the tx 750w
or antec 750w high end gamer

get some 6-8gb is NEEDED

212 evo

haf 912 is cheap and great way to save money
(i have it and like it)

seasonic is having great deals on hard drives but never tried them

get a 64-256gb doesnt matter what you gt bc in 3 years they will be cheap and hard drives wont exsist

i like the asrock z77 ex4!

hope this helped
