Operating system trouble

hello all! i am going to build myself a new gaming pc very soon and thought that i would be able to get windows 7 for very cheap from my freind who is a university student. i do not know if that can happen anymore though so i would like to ask you what is going to be the cheapest and easiest way to get windows 7 onto my pc.

any tips would be greatly appreciated!

i was thinking of perhaps reusing my hard drive in the new computer as it has xp on it already but it is riddled and has multiple errors so would ideally like to start from scratch! i also do not have my windows xp disc either.

You could ask your friend for a copy, but the cheapest you'll get is $90 if you can't.

Schools still offer cheap copies of Windows.

ill find out tomorrow, im just a little confused which package i am actually meant to get though, as it isnt an upgrade as there will not be an os on the system as it will be brand new!
