Hello, i have a phenom x4 black edition with 8GB of ddr3 1333mhz ram and i was wondering what sort of performance increase i will get with a solid state drive. Or is my processor to old to benefit from the faster read times?

Your PC will boot faster and load programs faster. Overall your PC should feel like it is running a little smoother. However it does not increase the CPU's performance. You will not see any improvement in games other than faster load times. If you play games that loads map data every so often, then it should feel smoother. as long as the game is installed on the SSD.

You will soon become accustomed to the increases and won't notice them at all.

Yes! It will be like you're using a new PC.

It will improve boot time and opening up programs, that's about all I've noticed. The Phenom II 965 BE may be 3 years old, but it's still a hell of a CPU! Overclock it some and you will see a definite performance increase.

okay, what cooler do you suggest? And what speed for the processor, what is a stable overclock?

The Hyper 212 EVO is a good cooler for it's price. I wouldn't push the Phenom II 965 BE anything above 4.2GHz. Anything higher can be unstable. It will beat the FX 8350 (at stock) at per core performance when clocked to 4.0GHz or higher. I've even thought about getting one myself and passing my FX 4100 onto my dad for a server.

As you can see the Phenom II 980 BE is only a little bit under the FX 8350 at games and per core performance. The Phenom II 965 BE is basically the same thing, except at a lower clock.

Most likely yes, unless you have a crappy motherboard that can't handle the extra power intake.
