Hi...
My PC specs are as follows:
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.00 GHz
Motherboard: ZOTAC Intel G31 value series [DDR2]
RAM: 2 GB DDR2, will upgrade to 4 GB soon
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5450, 1024 MB GDDR3

I'm not looking forward to a total change in my PC hardware since I need to run both Win XP SP2 32-bit and Win 7 64-bit. That would be expensive too... :sarcastic:
I'd like to upgrade my processor since its a little sluggish in Win 7... Any suggestions within 8000 INR would be helpful...

Already shortlisted some products such as:
Intel 3 GHz LGA 775 Dual Core E5700
Intel 2.93 GHz LGA 775 Core 2 Duo E7500
Intel 3.2 GHz LGA 775 Dual Core E5800
Intel 3.06 GHz LGA 775 Core 2 Duo E7600

I think only LGA 775 socket processors would be appropriate... I understand that processor speed isn't the only contributing factor to a processor's performance... But how is the bus-core ratio supposed to affect performance?
I'm kind of a light gamer, play games such as COD, POP, Max Payne, MOH, NFS, Crysis etc.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me out!!! :)

I suggest go with e5800 3.2ghz at around rs 4300 it would much better than your current cpu.i know core 2 duo are better but it expensive and not worthwile at all with old mobo.you have rs 8000 then why not get new cpu, mobo and ram.you can get 3rd gen dual core cpu with mobo and 4gb ram at around 7.5k.it will beat that all old cpu.

Thanks for the suggestion... :)
Yes, I know 3rd generation processors are way faster than the 2nd generation processor family... But like I said, I need to run both Win XP SP 2(32-bit) and Win 7(64-bit)...
I don't think I can run XP 32 bit if I switch to DDR3... Would that be possible??

And what is this bus-core ratio?? From what I read, it seems to matter too... Is a lower bus/core ratio more efficient??

Also today I spotted another processor within my range: Intel 2.66 GHz LGA775 Q8400... Its Core 2 Quad (which is flattering), but I don't think 2.66 GHz would do any good...
All these products can be viewed on www.flipkart.com

Xp have not relation with ddr3.it will work.your cpu is 1st gen cpu.i suggert get 2nd and 3rd gen even cheaper as e5800 costs rs 4500 but 2nd gen cpu g645 costs just rs 3200 and beats all core2 duo or dual core of 1st gen cpu.do not get that quad core
