So im OCing and AMD overdrive reports 50C and core temp and hardware monitor report 40C? which one is correct?

Always best to test your temps in BIOS. As both of the programs use the sensors on your CPU. It's impossible to know exactly which one is correct. Try downloading other programs such as realtemp, coretemp and HWMonitor and see which ones have the same/equal to temps and thats probably the right one.
