pretty amazing game,
lots of new things, style, interfaces, controls etc.
the basics are like DCF POE, but lots new stuff, the sprint ability is
very good, Commander mode works well, to my suprise.
the sniper rifles are not good, cant hit a barn door with them.
not sure if its learning new lead points or the bullets drop with
distance. the SVD feels better in use than the M24.
one thing, the Snipers have good Gilly suits, coverd in ragged cloth,
so look very shaggy, and blend into the ground nicely.
The land vehicles like tanks, APCs, Humvees, DPVs are very very good,
the DPV crys out for a BF2 stunt map.
in the options menus, theres separate control selection screens for
common, land, aircraft, helicopters, sea.
if you set the joystick settinsg the same for air and helos,
you get the game complaining aboutr duplicate controls, but it still
works ok, theres a lack of a view cycle bind, which is a shame.
I coundnt see one....
the players jumping is a bit over the top, but prob will get fixed in a
patch, and its not too bad, the graphics are stunning, and dont lag like
BFV at high resolutions, the new graphics engine is superb.
the maps have very good vegatation, the long grass sways in the wind.
much much improved over BFV.
the single player mode in the demo has a round time of 10 minutes,
the MP mode has a limit of 12 minutes, so you play the map over and
over, we will get sick of that 'gulf of oman' map lol.
the scenery and buildings are very good, ladders work very well,
the water texture is amazing, looks real.
all in all DICE have done a brillient job,
when the Mods convert over to BF2, we will be in heaven.
prob wont see DC or DCF, but DCR and DCX are converting.
BG42 and FH will too, POE and a few BFV mods are doing likewise.
check out the POE website for some good model renders.
The stock BF2 game doesnt have too much variety of vehicles,
but the mods will make up for it.
go download the demo and enjoy.

Funny, I was able to set the airplane and helicopter controls the same
without any complaints from the game.

hiding is very possible, you just have to hide in different places to
old style BF. Hiding in bushes is pretty good, you'll be suprised by
how many people run straight past you!

I played a game tha other day, where I positioned myself prone next to
the petrol pumps at the garage, and a squad of 8 or so soldiers ran
straight past me (except the 2, I picked off!)

Under the train is the first place I look when I'm sniping ;)

I've not used the anti-tank missile for sniping, but I'm starting to
use the support mg in a similar role. I sit myself up high on a
building and wait for any enemy to show themselves. The advantage is
that whilst waiting, you can pepper the helicopters and keep on
resupplying yourself with ammo.

I found a good spot under the freight train. It was quite fun sniping.
Another good hint: The wire guided anti-tank missiles are actually very
good for sniping. You only have to hit fairly close to the target.

You couldn't get under trains in BF 42, that sounds good at least.

They are also good for far distances.
You know you can let them change direction do ya?

Yes, it's very enjoyable to watch scoot across the landscape in pursuit
of a fleeing jeep ;-)

Seems wise ;-) On top of the construction crane is another good sniping
spot.

Yes, I like the fact that all the classes are enjoyable, and can get
points for their special functions. If a support or medic is in a
vehicle, everyone nearby is automatically affected (I haven't tried it
yet, but read it somewhere).

Yeah thats correct,a medic or engi will automaticly start repairing/healing
all teamies that are nearby ,even when they are in a vehicle.

Actually, they HAVE to be in a vehicle to do automatic healing. If not,
they have to pull out their medpack or wrench.

i am not completly shure but i think i was getting healed a little last night
when a friendly APC drove by,i was admiring *cough* the scenery
and suddenly i could hear that healing/repair sound and my health went up.

Hm... and i had not had any alcoholic beverages when that happened.
No mushrooms either. :)

Yes, that's what I was saying... if medics/engies are in vehicles, they heal
anybody around them. So there was most likely a medic in the APC that drove
by you.
