Just bought a custom pc

It was fine until it started randomly freezing and had to force shutdown.

The speakers would like repeat a half a second of what was playing. Like a broken record

Well today it froze on the blue screen so i took a pic fast.

Help?

This error is caused by either memory errors or driver error. Does this error occur in safe mode? if it does then it is a memory error if it does not then it is a driver error. Try running memtest86 for at least three passes to test the memory.

if the pc was shipped to your house..i would open the case up and with the pc off and unplugged from the wall so you dont short anything out check that all the ram is seated. also check all the cards and heat sinks. i seen new pc with dimms and heatsinks just sitting on the bottom of cases from bad shipping. if there ok and everything looks fine. try running memtest. if there an issue where it fails..take out 1/2 ram and run again..it help you find the bad dimm. if you cant cause the error again or it still errors out i would use the computer warranty and show them.

Its a used computer from ebay, the seller is very cooperative, the package came with two big wholes on the front of the box and the back, so dont know if it was used as handles, or tampered with, the HDD wasnt plugged in right so i put it in properli because it wasnt showing, i re seated all the RAM already, memtest passed, it has watercooling in it if that helps. Advice is much appreciated.

Hi Vikz4,

Download a program called BSOD Viewer. This is very handy cause u can google the results.

Post up what this shows, or post the DUMP file

i can trigger this problem almost everytime by

playing a song on youtube at 1080p maximizing the screen, and putting the volume on full.

any ideas?

Could you confirm that both PCIe connectors are plugged into GTX 480 from the power supply unit? Is the CPU overclocked?
August 9, 2012 1:30:00 PM

Cpu is not overclocked, They are in correctly and firm. Windows is not genuine. Thanks

Not genuine windows? I'd reinstall them for genuine version, as that's what may be causing the issue.
August 9, 2012 10:57:11 PM

right... i checked dxdiag and cpuid and noticed my motherboard and motherboard drivers was different.

it said i had a motherboard GA-MA790XT-UD4P on dxdiag
but ive been installing GA-MA770-UD3 from the CD i got with the computer, the seller said thats the cd and manual he got with the motherboard.

anyways i removed the old drivers and installed the new drivers and just waiting to see if it solves my problem as it mostly happens randomly.

do you think this might of been the issue here ?

THANKS!!!

I don't think so.
August 9, 2012 11:11:25 PM

Why not? isnt that a problem.. downloading incorrect drivers?

They usually use common installer for many drivers, and by running it, it automatically installs the correct ones. The 100 MB bundle you download contains hundreds of driver versions.

Re installed windows problem persisted, iam going to get a refund,
Can i build a similar spec pc or better with a budget of £520 - £720. Without screen & and windows. And a place in the uk to buy parts.

If you really cannot spend that much, remove CPU cooler for now and buy it when you have enough money.

August 11, 2012 5:13:11 PM

is it stronger than my previous computer do you think?
a c 291 U Graphics card
August 11, 2012 5:15:49 PM

It's the same graphics card but much stronger CPU. Also, your last PC had a fancy case and liquid cooling - but that stuff is expensive and is only good for looks - so I skipped it. I've also skipped DVD recorder - I don't really think you need one - I personally don't; last time I used it was 10 months ago when I assembled my PC (to install windows, but you can do it with a flash drive as well).
