Need help finishing build.

I bought a gtx 460 2win today for 100$ new dont ask... lol.. I hear good and bad things about this card but that doesnt matter right now for $100 im sure nothing can touch it.

That card is the only thing I have bought so far need the rest of the computer.

I dont think that a 3570k is a must in order to not bottleneck the card at 1920x1080p, I really dont care to spend $200+ on a cpu, From what I gather people dont like amd anymore. I have a athlon x4 in my dads computer with a gtx 470 and it does great in borderlands 2 very high settings 50-60 fps.

Just would like to throw together a cheap build that is going to give the gtx 460 2win what it needs in order to run well.

So far I like the cm690 II advance from tigerdirect its at $69.99 right now.

Please let me know what some option are, I still like amd, I understand SB and Ivy are better but amd is a hell of alot cheaper.

  1. If you want AMD, I'd wait for Piledriver which comes out in Oct.

If you don't want to wait, get the Phenom II 965 and 8GB of RAM.

The phenom 965 will not have a bottleneck issue with my card will it?
  3. Nope, not at all. Though, I would get a Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler, and overclock it to 4GHz.

newegg has a good price on that cpu right ow 89.99, I need to know what a good ATX size motherboard would be for this cpu, The cheaper the better but not junk an sugestions?
  5. This mobo has good reviews what you think

    ASRock 970 EXTREME3
  6. If you have a Microcenter nearby, the 965 is $100 w/ a good mobo.

The M5A97 is a really good AM3+ board.
  7. The Extreme3 is good as well.

If you had to order from newegg and you were looking to spend $85 or less which amd motherboard would you go with, That asus is not carryed by newegg atm.

I would consider a AM3+ socket type so you can upgrade to the Pilerdriver/Steamroller down the road.

    Here are some good ones:

    ASRock:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157281

    Gigabyte:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128509

    All three support SLI/Crossfire 2-way I believe?

I prefer these two brands over anything else, someone might suggest an ASUS board but I have always found their stuff to be crap. Just my view.
  10. This motherboard has good review and is cheaper, Also it supports am3+ I can justify spending 120$ on a mobo right now, Is this mobo still a good choice, Will it overclock well, And what is the best ram to go with?

Do I need to go with ram higher then 1333 to be able to overclock the 965?
  12. Nope, any RAM can be overclocked. Though, 1600 is a few bucks more, so I'd get the 1600, but there's very little difference between 1333 and 1600. I myself use 1333.

Will that asrock mobo be able to overclock the 965 well?
