Hi,

im putting together a new system and have got most of my parts sorted out.. just wondering what a good mice/keyboard to go for as i am fairly new to this.

My PC Build:

i7-3770k + Sabertooth z77 + Samsung SSD 128 + Seagate 2TB + Asus gtx 670 + Antec DF 85 + 16gb hyper X ram + H100 or D14 (not sure yet).

Im looking at spending no more than $120 for the mice/keyboard... any recomendations? also any thoughts on H100 or D14 Noctua... will be the difference be enough to justify the noise level that H100 produces.. I will be overclocking mine to around 4.5GHz

i am in Sydney Australia

Thanks

1: get a i5 3570k. performs the same or better than the 3770k in games
2: sabertooth is a gimmick and a ripoff. shroud traps heat. get the z77-v pro instead. same board but a lot cheaper
3: vertex 4 is just as reliable and faster.
4:asus 670 is overrated. the msi power edition is my only recommendation other than the gigabyte windforce gtx670
5:get a better case like a fractal define r4, corsair 500R, or a antec 302. the df-85 is pretty dam old=not so good
6:get 8gb of gskill ram. no difference between kingston and gskill other than the fact that most kingston ram sticks run at 1.65v which will void your intel waranty
7: NOCTUA ftw. have one and is keeping my i7 3770k at 4.5ghz with 1.15v at 60c tops

if you are doing editing along with gaming, go ahead with the i7 and the 16gb (get gskill instead)

for a keyboard, id recommend the corsair k60 but its well over 100 dollars

Agreed. You only need the i7 and 16 GB if you are doing other intensive work.

I would pick up a 7950 instead, it should be sufficient for your needs.
Don't buy a h100

Great choices pretty much across the board. The Sabertooth / 3770k is one of my favorite combos and usually comes with a nice fat newegg combo discount. If your usage is "just gaming, ya might consider the 3570k and save the $100.... only you can decide if the few extra % points of gaming performance is worth that $100.

The Sabertooth is a great OC'ing board and works very well in the DF-85 which is an outstanding case. The hot swap 2.5" drive is a godsend for backup purposes. And the 5 year warranty is nothing to sneeze at.

With the Samsung 128 at $113 here and the Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240 at $170, I'd be jumping all over the Chronos Deluxe and its premium toshiba \ toggle mode long life flash. The Seagate Barracuda XT 2TB is a great HD, the non XT version, I wouldn't touch.

The H100 sounds like ya at the airport....the Noc DH-14 is perty darn good and come sin just behind the Phanteks on thermals ..... but it's no Phanteks in the aesthetics or warranty department. Phanteks has 5 years tot he Noc's 1 and the Noc color choices are just plain fugly.

1.65 volt RAM will definitely NOT void your Intel warranty, the the lwoer the voltage, \the cooler your on board memory controller will run. The following post is on teh board a good 20 times but this 1.65 volt rumor keeps coming back

1.5 volts is for the JDEC profiles .... most XMP profiles for i5 and i7 RAM is 1.65. In fact, over 2/3 of the RAM on Intel's XMP compatible list are over 1.50 volts.

Don't take my word for it, take Intel's

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/gaming-computers/intel-extreme-memory-profile-xmp.html

Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP) allows you to overclock compatible DDR3 memory to perform beyond standard specifications. It’s designed to enhance the gaming features built into Intel® technology–based PCs. If you like to overclock and squeeze as much performance from your PC as possible, then memory based on Intel XMP gives you that extra edge you need to dominate—without breaking a sweat.

Predefined and tested Intel XMP profiles can be loaded via BIOS or a specific tuning application through a computer’s operating system. Often the easiest way to load Intel XMP profiles is using a tuning utility, which may be available depending on the particular board manufacturer. To learn whether a tuning utility is available on your system, you should contact the board manufacturer.

Someone still claiming 1.5 ? Again, no.....again look at Intel's list of "approved modules". Most listed compatible i5 / i7 RAM is 1.65 .... at least according to Intel's compatibility lists

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/gaming-computers/core-i5-processor-memory-datasheet.html
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/gaming-computers/core-i7-memory-suppliers-datasheet.html

Intel's approved i7 Compatibilty List (April 2012) includes:

34 1.65 volt modules
07 1.60 volt modules
19 1.50 volt modules
01 1.25 volt modules

So we see that there are almost twice as many more 1.65 volt modules certified by Intel than 1.5 volt modules. Still I like to use the low voltage 1.35 modules from Corsair.

Solid choice on the Asus 670...... read why

As for ya original question, \I'd suggest avoiding wireless mice and KB's. I have had em all .... simply put, they just don't stack up to the wired ones. This is a nice balance of performance and price

Thanks for the response.. ill be sticking with the i7 since i will using my comp for video editing and other things... going back to Sabertooth the thing that really stood out for me was that the board is a great over-clocker and the 5 year warranty is nice. To be honest i dont want to be upgrading my comp for a good 2-3 years.

going back to the ram would 16gb of hyper x be kept or should i go with one of the G skill rams which is cost me only few $$ more.

I am using a very basic mice at the moment and do not know much... what should i be looking for in a gaming mice??
