Hey, i havent been on in a while but i cant figure this out..
I have this cheap 300$ asus laptop with a pentium p6100 that should run at 2ghz. I just noticed today after owning the computer for almost 2 years that when i am not running a heavy workload application, the cpu monitor gadget AND CPUid/CPUZ say that it underclocks to approx. 912mhz.. is this normal for this type of processor? it is mobile sandy bridge architecture i believe, was this a feature and i never noticed it? or is my laptop's cpu about to fry itself from the clock speed switching?

It does that to keep cool, then the fan doesn't have to run as hard, and it won't be as loud.
