Anyone heard of a release date for this card? The last rumors I found are Q3...I only ask because I'm about to buy a GTX 680 but if the 685 is right around the corner I would wait. Thoughts?

most likely during Christmas sales definitely Q4 or Q1 2013.

I think I've read somewhere that Nvidia said that there won't be any better single GPU cards than GTX 680 in this series, and after GTX 660/650 they will continue with 700 series.

The 680, 670, 660 are believed by many to have originally been targeted as nVidia mid range lineup...... and the "big kepler" (BK) is already waiting in the wings. But given the cards competitive positioning in the marketplace, nVidia has no reason to release BK at this time.

What they eventually call them is anybody's guess....again assuming those pundits are right.. While to my eye, their reasoning was sound, only time will tell

The GK110 gaming chip will be released to counter the AMD 8970, likely near the end of this year in time for the holiday buying season. With 670's, 680's, and soon 660 Ti's selling like hotcakes, there is no reason to release anything more powerful.

the new NVIDIA Tesla K20 GPU ($3,199 MSRP, USD) will be available starting in December 2012.

Tesla K20 is based on GK110 chip, so the gamer version might get released Q1 2013, probably as the 700 series cards (if it ever gets released at all)

It depends on what you have now and if it's enough for your current usage.
