My computer screen is black

Hello, when I went to turn on my computer screen turned black I mean like it didn't even let me log in or anything. I could hear the fan. I decided to remove the battery for about an hour then I tried turning it on again It worked for like 10 seconds the went to a black screen I'm not too knowlageble when it comes to computers but I think I have an acer aspire 5534 can anyone tell me what I should do?

First check the obvious. Press the Fn+ monitor on your keyboard and make sure you have the input feeding to the LCD screen. If that doesn't wrk it could be alot of things it could be a bad cable or a bad LCD screen. It could be the graphics chip itself. Without looking at it, it is hard to say. I would take the laptop to a repair shop as they can be a real pain to take apart especially the LCD panel. They can run test on it and find out whats wrong with it. I would guess the cable that runs from the laptops motherboard to the LCD screen is bad.
