Fps and stuttering after driver updates

I recently got a new video card. When I installed it I ran the driver disc it came with. Recently I updated my drivers through Steam and now all my games run a lot slower. Skyrim stutters horribly when I look around and I can barely run Blacklight: Retribution. I have an Asus Hd 6670 1g ddr5. I have tried uninstalling Amd catalyst and installing the drivers from the disc but to no avail. I can barely play any of my games. Thanks in advance

what resolution are you playing in.

I play on 1440x900. I have tried lowering the resolution but it has no effect. Both of these games ran just fine before the driver update.
