CPU upgrade help.

I have an older pre-built HP Pavilion M8400F. not sure what the motherboard type is. It has an AMD phenom 9500 quad-core processor that I want to upgrade if at all possible. I have already taken out the original Nvidia graphics card and replaced it with a Nvidia 550 TI. I only play things like guild wars 2 right now but I want to get into some higher performance games. Would just like to know if I can upgrade the CPU and if so what are some recommendations.

  1. You can upgrade to a Phenom x4 9850 without have to replace your mother board.

Heres a link for specs on the 9850 http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/402/AMD_Phenom_X4_9500_vs_AMD_Phenom_X4_9850_(125W__BE).html
  2. I advise that you purchase a decent copper heatsink for this processor.
  3. Do not get the 9850 that will not work. The mobo only supports up to 95w meaning the 9600 is the highest. But the small increase is not worth the upgrade. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01357175&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3686665#N94 There is also no point in getting a new heatsink.
