When i open "Norton anti virus" and look in "reports" and click on "view the list of viruses" and look on the bottom
it shows i'm protected from 47554 different viruses.
Well my friend shows a completly different number WHICH IS HIGHER than mine!

So i click on the update and it states "currently up to date"

How can this be possible, my system has less virus protection than my friend.

How many are you protected from?

Please take a look and post the number of viruses your system is showing.

Thanks so much : >

Most anti-virus software do not give out exact number of viruses you are protected from... this is to give false sense of security to the virus writer themselves, thinking that 'their' virus is not in that anti-virus software.

58459. Better.

Hmm. Makes sense. You would think its not on the list anyway if the writer is writing it.

Wouldn't give much of a false sense of security. I'm sure most virus writers test their creations on a machine equipped with anti-virus software, before releasing them.

Keep up camieabz, we're on 58524 now, sheesh...

I'm running Norton virus 2002. I recently got a Trojan horse and Norton said it can't repair or delete it. So I install Trojan Remover, I ran the scan and it said "No malicious virus found". The Trojan horse came in a text format and it's still there in a folder and I can't delete it. How do I get rid of it?

Open Norton AV and click on reports, virus list. It's at the bottom and updates itself.

Yup.

Pity I didn't but any shares in NAV.

Mind you, they're unlikely to drop. Even if there's a massive internet bomardment of viruses, these numbers keep going up.

I don't even use Norton, and those numbers are often false. They are not always real, since Norton protects you from all the viruses they know off. And they don't know about all the viruses out there.

SOPHOS antivirus protects me from 76759 viruses, trojans, and worms.

but that means absolutely nothing, as an anti-virus company can release cures for 5 variants of a same virus while another will release only 4 and offer as good a protection.

yet, I would not trust my network to Norton.

Norton Av can't delete a file while its being executed.

What you need to do is kill the process using task manager or process views then try again.

Really I don't see why NAV doesn't offer to kill the proccess for you.
