Broken CPU

I have a guess that my CPU is broken.
I want to try and put it in another motherboard to see if its my CPU or motherboard.

Is it possible that it could cause damage to the motherboard i am inserting the possibly broken CPU into?

I own a Athlon 2 x3 445 and a gigabyte MA74GMT-S2

  1. I don't think there would be any danger to a different board if you tested the CPU out in it.
  2. So if the CPU is indeed broken it would just not post or beep continuusly and when putting the working cpu in it would just work normally?
  3. Correct, I had a cpu die on me last year. I tested it out in a working board and the board was still fine when I put the cpu that was in it back in.
  4. Bummer, looks like you need to upgrade anyway. Now's the time!
