Approximate Purchase Date: In the next 6 months

Budget Range: $1100 After Rebates and After Shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, School Work, Watching Movies

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Parts to Upgrade: New Build

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com

Location: Ohio

Parts Preferences: I would like an Intel CPU and an Nvidia GPU

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1080p

Additional Comments: I don't acutlly have the money right now, so you can go a bit over the budget. I also need a wireless LAN card and a headset with a microphone.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I am tired of my DELL laptop crashing from playing Sims 3 on lowest settings, and I want to stop using my PS3 for games.

I would recommend a whole build, but 6 months from now there will be a whole new landscape of parts and options, so it's best to come back when your ready to buy. This way we can assist you with the best build for the $ at that time.

Anything I recommend right now will not be close to what I'd recommend in 6 months time.

When I said in the next six months, I meant within the next 6 months. I could borrow some cash and buy It right now if I had to.

if you can wait until november 25th (black friday) you could save a lot of money so come back around that time in case new stuff has come out(which it will)or prices may drop
but i would suggest waiting for black friday since it's only a couple months

That still doesn't give me any parts for my build.

You stated that you didn't have the $ right now, so that is why I said what I said. If you buy right now or soon, here is what I'd consider:
~$980 - $30 MIR = $950
Intel 3570k w/Corsair 300R Case w/GTX 670 ~$1k

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/
for right now this is one of the best builds.you can change the case if you want it might not be what you like i don't care
that build should do you for about 4-6 years before it can't play AAA title games
oh and also PCPartPicker is better than just newegg because it uses the lowest prices from around big computer part sites

Honestly, video cards aren't exactly my forte (translation:I don't know jack.), so sure, give me this Radeon Build.

So you have:
* 2500k, should have i5 3570k it's the latest and OC's well too.
* $58 CPU HSF, I would probably only spend about $20-30 for a CPU HSF $20 CM Hyper 212 Cooler (after rebate).
* No Case in price ~$40-80 added.

I would recommend the GTX 670 too, but then I included a Case, No CPU HSF, but more expensive CPU (latest). I think my build makes more sense for long term build. The 2500k is a good CPU, but why not have the latest CPU and still not spend much more ($18).

It's up to the OP on what he wants, but I think my build makes more sense. If the OP wants more GPU than the 7870 or even the GTX 660 if he wants the nVidia equivalent.
