What is the best CPU heatsink for me?

I am getting some hot temps on my i7 3770 with the stock fan so I want to upgrade to an aftermarket heatsink. I am planning to spend around $30. My case is horrible and the backside of the case does not have a hole for the backplate, I dont think that should change anything but I just want to make sure. I would have to remove the motherboard to install the backplate and heatsink right? I will provide some pictures to give you an idea of how much room I have inside. You guys have been awesome at helping me out, I thank you very much!

Buy the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO or the Cooler Master Hyper TX3

Hyper TX3 should be enough. You're not going to OC that CPU anyway.

The Evo is kind of poor quality. It's cheap which is why people buy it, and it's decent under load. But it will actually slide on the CPU when it's installed.

It's good for a budget cooler, but the fact that it doesn't even stay in place over the CPU, and won't work with a full set of high end RAM takes it down to something like a B-

theres nothing better in that price range, it can actuallly cool as good as a 60$ cooler.

thats the whole point i own the cooler, so what ur saying is non relevant. yes it blocks 1 ram slot but most coolers unless low-profile will block a ram slot.

Yea, that's why you bought it. It's cheap. That's what I said. In one of the sources you listed, the delta temperature is on the higher end of all the coolers listed. I'm not saying it's a bad cooler, it's just decent.

The adapter brackets for AMD sockets are definitely low quality, I'm not sure how well the intel ones work though. I'm sure it cools very well but the fact that it slides around over the socket was enough to just say "nope".

Hyper 212 or Xigmatek Gaia since you can't overclock.

Xigmatek Gaia is smaller so it'll fit in more cases but cools 1-2 degrees hotter.

Please don't buy anything until you get physical dimensions of your case. The 212 is tall. I lost money shipping one back because it didn't fit. Size up your case and look up the name so we can be sure.

theres like 160mm from motherboard to sidepanel and the evo itself is like 158mm
well I think I will buy it either way and modify the cheap sidepanel window if things arent fitting.
