********old thread title*********
Power Supply, Really afraid of coil whine.
*********************************
Changed title of thread for a new question
How many watts do i need?

This is what i have currently purchased
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/D1zV

For now i plan on only having one card but in a month or two i can purchase a second gtx 670, or 7970 if i feel like i need more fps.

Budget 700$
I still need a case (probably getting corsair carbide 500r 120$)
Graphics card gtx 670, or 7970 (430$)
Leaves me with 150$ to spend on a psu

If it was your rig, what would you pick?

Was thinking about PC Power and cooling 750 watt's
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

********************old**********************

I took back my 600cx corsair psu because i wanted to get a higher wattage one

at first i was settled on this
OCZ Z Series Gold OCZZ850M 850W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Then i figured for 20 bucks more i can get myself this
SeaSonic X Series X-850
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

And everyone always says seasonic is the best.

But after reading the review's, and after many google searches, many people are plagued with coil whine.
I have bad sensitivity to high pitched noises and i am really afraid of buying these power supplies if there going to have this noise.

Should i even risk it? Should i go with a different manufacturer?
I haven't seen many reviews of rosewill or kingwin having coil whine is that just because not as many people buy seasonic or corsair?

More about : watts

So did you need a higher wattage one? Coil whine can happen in any PSU.

If you don't want Coil whine buy a PC&P.

Seasonic and Corsair are infamous for coil while(however their PSU are extremely high quality otherwise). You're safe with PC&P IMO they're owned by the same people who own Seasonic(OCZ)

I guess i will try PC&P then, i did read about a few cases of them having coil whine but not many, it seems to be a common theme between all power supply makers :[ which is disheartening. I did read that PC&P is made by seasonic but owned by OCZ, and seasonic seems like the brand with the most coil whine so that sort of threw my through a loop, i believe the 750/850 watt MKIII are made by superflower though

If it was your rig, what would you pick?

750watts will be fine for your rig with 2 cards. Your links are broken but I would go with the MKIII.

Where did you see Seasonic Electronics was owned by OCZ, while I don't doubt it,
when I researched the company before purch my x-650 I never found
a reference to OCZ. I'da still purch the x-650, just curious as to
how I missed it.

They were made by seasonic, then ocz bought out PC Power and Cooling MKIII and now there made by super flower

Yeah, aware of all that was referring to his statement that pc p&c and Seasonic
were owned by the same company -(OCZ)

Hi repress - MKIII 400,500, & 600w models still made by Seasonic,
750w & above made by Superflower, both very good OEM's.
