Questions:

1. In my last built I have noticed that the Phenom II x4 965 runs rather hot, so I got the Hyper 212 Evo (works great, but given the choice of my Computer Case I didn't have much space for cable management last time). I want a cooler which cools just as effectively, but doesn't take as much space.

My choice of CPU case is
2. I am not sure if I have selected a proper gfx card. I do know that NVIDIA works out of the box with Linux. So please let me know.

3. And finally, suggest anything else you'd like

P.S: I know my purposes could have been fulfilled with a llano APU, but i just wanted to future proof it, CPU wise.

Thanks You.

2-4GiB of RAM,
Maybe something like an Athlon II X2-4,
You don't need a GPU as good as that for your purposes - HD 6450, 6570? Intel GPUs have the best Linux support, and may save you some monies because they are included in the CPU, since they are open-source, whereas AMD and (I have heard) Nvidia drivers are improving greatly. I have a HD 6570, and everything works fine, most bugs are caused by installation by Jockey/Additional Drivers in Ubuntu. Not all Nvidia cards are safe, some may still be incompatible, so keep that in mind.
IMO you wouldn't need an SSD unless you require I/O much faster than a HDD, which, I think you wouldn't need.

There's an epic deal on Ebuyer, where you can get a 1TiB WD Caviar Black HDD for £50. http://www.ebuyer.com/146082-wd-1tb-black-hard-drive-wd1001fals

Yea, I guess then I'll get an Athlon II x4 w/ 8 gigs of Memory & 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD and a HD 6570.

Initially I wanted to do a hybrid crossfire with A8-3870K and a HD 6570.

Really hoping someone will suggest me a cheap budget build (intel or amd)
