hi all

I finished building up the computer and it's working finally.
but my boot (windows 7) device is on my external hard drive.
How do I get the motherboard to boot from my external hard drive?

I have a asus p8z77-v pro motherboard

I tried pressing Boot Menu > WD My Passport but it still tells me
"reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

Also if it says cpu fan error, would it be fixed if i reinstall it?

thanks

Don't boot from an external hard drive. It is hard to get it to work based on what I read. Also usb is much slower than sata. USb is much slower than sata.. Even if you do get it to work, it will be at the price of having an incredibly slow boot time. Also external is ussually used to store data like back up files, music, and movies.
