So, here is my problem. Today I received my new cpu (specified above) and when I installed it and turned it on, I received 3 consecutive beeps from POST (already knows that means RAM issues). Everything was working perfectly before I replaced my old one, an Intel Celeron 1.6 GHz. Here are the things I have tried thus far:

1. Tested all the RAM
2. Reseated everything
3. Replaced the Videocard with another
4. Reset the CMOS
5. Unplugging everything

Nothing else happens, the screen is still blank. Any help would be appreciated :)

  1. Hmm did you try replacing the cpu with the old one to make sure that nothing was damaged? You might have received a bad cpu if not.

Yes, this is the second different 'new' cpu i have tried, yet the same results keep happening.
  3. Hey guys,

I am online with the cpu company and they told me that it could be DOA, however unlikely because thats what they told me when I got my last one, so this is very unlikely.
  4. Did you replace the MOBO by chance? I had a damn annoying problem that turned out to be an extra case offset grounding the motherboard.
  5. does the motherboard support the core 2 quad? Many lga 775 boards did not have full support for every lga 775 cpus. Seems that that board does not support as in on the cpu support list for the q9000. Try the latest bios

Edit: Actually there is no 2.4Ghz core 2 quad in the 9xxx model numbering only the q6600
  6. That board supports C2Q. Though I do not see a Q9000 on the supported list. Still, it should work. I would put the old celeron back in and make sure something didn't happen with the board.

  7. the core 2 quad q9000 given what he said is a mobile processor @2.0ghz, as i said there is no 9000 series c2q @2.4Ghz only the q6600
