Buy the Canon A95. A friend just bought one and loves it, especiallly the
swing out screen. I have a Canon A60 (2 megapixel) and love it - easy to
use, very sharp photos and no problems after 2 years. My next purchase will
be the A95.

TIME doing so :-)

I like the look of the A95 i.e. price, CF and AA batteries.
I would have liked a metal body but you can't have everything.
Some reviews report that the CF slot cover on the A95
is flimsy.
Also is the flip and twist screen sturdy enough, or will the ribbon
cable fail during the service life of the camera?
As a prospective purchaser I'd be interested in your opinions.

Dan,
How did you get the $261/shipped price!?
Right now it comes up at $296 with the included 15% off.
Is there a code that you are using in combination?

While on holiday in 2004 in the US my old and trusted Epson 850Z died a
death; it used AA batteries and Compactflash cards. Needless to say I
looked for a similarly equipped camera in Fry's in Las Vegas, and was
delighted to find the A95. It has some drawbacks; I'm not
overimpressed with the Auto mode, and the rather flimsy CF card cover
(which must be closed to operate the camera) worried me at first - but
now I love it as much as the Epson. Since buying it, I have two
friends who have bought the same. Try it - you'll enjoy it too! Only
thing I would add is that if you buy non-Canon AA rechargeable
batteries, get the most powerful ones that you can; I use 2350mA
batteries. Less powerful just can't stand the pace!
