why amost same Price, but E3 1230v2 speed fast than any i5/i3 CPU
disadvantage i cann't find any disadvantage ,it have 4/8t,amost same at i7 CPU
Why do so few people are buying and mentioned?
E3 1230v2 have any weak point?

What exactly are these going to be used for? With all else the same, I'd go with the i5 - the extreme editions are really only faster when they're of the current technology.

Also get the three hundred two instead of 300 for front USB 3.0 ports.

for any thing...

we can help you better if you'd be a lot more specific in your answers.

a Xeon would be fine if you were going for a server build or a pc that would fully utilize the CPU, i.e; to run multiple VMs, or a 3D rendering workstation for, say, AutoCAD. it would however be pointless as a gaming PC as the i5 will perform better in that task in many cases, and an overkill for general PC usage. plus, you may need to update the BIOS on your mobo to even make it compatible with that Xeon CPU, and in order to do that, you may or may not need a compatible by default i3, i5 or i7.

unless you're a professional and you need it to perform a specific task, go for an i5.

I'm sorry but you sound like my friend, Petedog. He would always ask me something and never be specific. I think he did it to put a smile on my face because he only did it when I was having those bad days. Ha ha, you made me laugh when you said, "For anything." Lol. But Hazle is right. =)

let me assume that this is for gaming, based on the 670 SLI which most people would want it for gaming, as you still haven't given us a clear answer on your intended usage.

some personal experience from njdevilsfan87 from the anandtech forums

Xeons do work on 1155 boards. I've used the E3-1230 (32nm version) in two different boards now, without any issues at all, and no bios updates were required to boot. However, if you're just gaming you should consider a 2500K or 3570K and overclock.

But the Xeon's are at a good price if you find the extra threads beneficial (allowed me to run a couple more VMs before maxing CPU usage). However, you cannot overclock them period outside of BCLK adjustment (limiting you to 100-150Mhz overclock). So in that perspective, even a lightly overclocked K-series chip would be over 700Mhz faster than an E-series chip.

in short, for the price of that Xeon, maybe slightly more, you could grab an easily OCable 3570K, giving you more performance for your money in gaming, than a non-OCable xeon with very limited OCing with BCLK.

HT isn't going to give you a lot of gain in games, nor the number of cores. and considering that a majority of PCs are used for anything between document preparation to web browsing to gaming, it's no wonder no one's interested in a xeon for any of those tasks; they're overkill for basic office tasks and casual web-browsing, and offer little OCing and hence performance for the price compared to an i5 for gamers. for those who do utilize HT and play games as well, an OCable i7 would have been a better choice.

some examples how HT, the number of cores and clock speed don't always matter in gaming, and that there are more to a CPU than just that

the only disadvantage about xeon E3 it cant be overclocked more than 400mhz ,and you said you don't need any overclocking so there isn't any disadvantage for you of buying xeon E3.
