Whad hdmi cable for gtx cards?

i am looking on hdmi dvi cables and found hdmi single link to dvi-d dual link cable. do i need hdmi dual link to connect gtx card from dvi-d dual link to hdmi on lcd monitor?

What monitor do you have? If it's above 1080p it will not work. Otherwise, there should not be a problem.

i intent to buy this 120hz lcd (only vga and 2x hdmi 1.4), and i assume i will have to buy hdmi 1.4 cables with conversion to dvi-d dual link

gtx 690, i plan to purchase has only 3 dvi-d connectors and i want to avoid displayport at all cost
also it seems that gtx 690 has 2 dvi-i and 1 dvi-d yet all 3 cables have to be dvi-d dual link cables, hmm confusing confusing confusing

Does your 690 have a dual link HDMI connection to even be able to allow for the dual HDMI cable to work in dual link mode?

gtx 690 according to my knowledge and info on web has 2 dvi-i and 1 dvi-d connectors. but people say that one should use dvi-d dual link cables to get 2d surround to work in 120hz lcds. my problem is that the lcd in question has only 2 hdmi connectors and only cables i could find are "hdmi single link - dvid-d dual link". thats why i am asking whether this cable is correct one to get 120Hz in 2d surround

I'd avoid that monitor if I were you. You will not get 120hz at 1080p because it only uses HDMI 1.4a, which only supports 120hz at 720p and I believe it is even limited to 120hz only when in HD3D at 720p (or 60hz per eye).

They have many better monitors at that size which offer a dual link DVI connection.

Don't worry about the DL-DVI-I vs DL-DVI-D. Both will support DL-DVI-D cables, the I version just allows for an analog cable as an option (not what you want).

ah still not solved. now i thought about it again and this lcd is not pivot so i cant use it in portrait 2d surround mode ...

Both of those are 120hz, have DL-DVI connections, so they'll do their job.

but benq is 108eur more expensive (tough has pivot and darkness game control switch), so 324 eur more alltogether so that i can get portrait 120hz grrr
i mean i am now on 2.8k eur total with 1 gtx 690 and i already went down with ram to 8gb from 16gb ... argh. ah ok nevermind
