Hello,
I want to change out the processor in my laptop. Right nowI have a Toshiba Satillite with an Intel Cover 2 Duo T5500 32bit w/ 4.0 Gbt of memory. What is the Max I can go up to?

There are lot of things that go into changing a processor out in a laptop. The First and most important is did Toshiba solder the processor onto the board? If so that is what you are stuck with. If you can change out the processor than you have to look at what the chipset/board will support but it is likely to be most of the processors on this list http://ark.intel.com/products/family/26548/Intel-Core2-Duo-Mobile-Processor/mobile

In order to answer this questions you are going to need to provide us with a model # of the laptop so that we can answer your questions.

That is a socket M or PPGA478 processor. Not really worth upgrading, the best you can get is another dual core with 2.8ghz the t9600.

And as IntelEnthusiast say's, you don't typically just replace the processor but the whole MOBO. And most laptops only fit one specific MOBO.

Look at all these mother boards available for Toshiba satellite laptops and notice how the all have a different shape. One size does not fit all.

If you want a computer that can be upgraded with more than just RAM, HD, WIFI, GPU then you need a desktop solution.
