Well lost my job awhile back so had to wait to get a new job. Finally I'm ready for a new system, specs below:

Approximate Purchase Date: Right Now

Budget Range: $1500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Development, very little gaming

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: Complete system from scratch

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: None

Location: Arizona/US

Parts Preferences: Whatever works the best for the price

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: No clue

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1200

Additional Comments: I need a computer for development. I have a lot of windows open including memory eating programs like photoshop, dreamweaver, eclipse and 20+ browser windows open at once. I need something that is very fast as I will also have xampp installed locally do to development work. Will be running Windows 7

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I currently have an old computer that is very slow for development. Currently have a Intel Core2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz with 4GB DDR2, with GeForce 9500 GT 512MB video card.

People on this forum might chew me up for this, but since you are doing a lot of heavily threaded apps. I am going to recommend the fx-8150 (Although, I would wait for pile driver to be released very shortly).

Look at this build.

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jbtt
Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jbtt/by_merchant/
Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jbtt/benchmarks/

CPU: AMD FX-8150 3.6GHz 8-Core Processor ($169.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($27.98 @ NCIX US)

Motherboard: ASRock 970 EXTREME4 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($99.99 @ Amazon)

Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($94.99 @ Newegg)

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($188.99 @ Amazon)

Storage: OCZ Vertex 4 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($189.98 @ NCIX US)

Video Card: MSI Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card ($267.86 @ Newegg)

Case: NZXT Source 210 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($47.98 @ Newegg)

Power Supply: Corsair Builder 600W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($51.98 @ Newegg)

Optical Drive: Asus BC-12B1ST/BLK/B/AS Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer ($54.99 @ Amazon)

Total: $1194.73
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

As I said, I would wait a couple days to get the new piledriver cpu's. Trinity APU's just released today, so the fx-series won't be too far behind. With 8 cores, you can destroy multi-threaded apps.

+1 This is what you asked for OP and it cost you even less then you were willing to spend :)

The 2 drives you mentioned after your price quote, are those alternatives you are suggesting if I wanted to pay more?
