Is this a good STARTER build for gaming?

I was wondering if this is a good starter build for gaming over time when i get alot of money sometime i will upgrade it.

Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz
Graphics: EVGA 02G-P4-2643-KR GeForce GT 640 2GB
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
Hard Drive: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Power Supply: CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 V2 500W
Optical Drive: ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM
Computer Case: AZZA Orion 202 EVO Black / Red SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Is this good for a starting gaming rig over time im gonna upgrade it though

not really, it jumps the cpu gun to o much. the gamer is defined by the gpu and not the cpu as much. a gt 640 is an under performing gpu that even the lower costing 7750 excels over.

What do you think i should/ change im trying my hardest to keep my budget under 830$

Save with an i3 and get a better gpu.

heres a quick build i did(assuming you live in the U.S

i5-3570k + Asus P8Z77-v LK + Hive 650w + G.Skill Ares 2x4gb 1600 + Rosewill CHallenger U3 + Asus 24x burner 487.99$ - 4.80$ with promo mem106 - 22.50$ from promo mb106 - 18.40$ from cpu106 = 442.29
Caviar Blue 1tb(1 more year warrenty vs the samsung drive 84.99 + shipping
XFX 7870 Ghz 269.99 - 27$ from promo vga106 = 242.99(picked this because i cant guarantee HIS cooler will fit case)
Hyper 212+ evo 30.99$

Total: 810.52

Wow you came up with that in like 30 minutes and its actually good for a low price ive been trying to make a good one for like 2 years for a low price but never worked out haha thanks man i really appreciate man!!
