i intend to use 3 monitors for gaming at 5760x1080 or 3240x1920 either set of 3 60hz iiyama b3475hds @206eur each or 3 120hz benq xl2420t @386eur
iiyama b2475hds (http://www.digitalversus.com/lcd-monitor/iiyama-prolite...)
benq xl2420t (http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/monitors-and-pr...)

now in my country
gtx670pe (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) costs 420eur
and gigabyte7970oc (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) costs 416eur,
while gtx690 costs 960eur. so if i decide to saveup, which of the 2 should i choose for SLI or CF? msi gtx 670 or gb7970oc?

now i ve been an ati guy all my life but since there is no ati anymore ... ok who am i kidding. i would prefer nvidia now because all i need here for 3 monitors are 3 dvi-d dual link cables @7,65 eur each and i am set. with ati solution i am too confused about the adapters ... also i never overclock

thank you

If your going to run eyefinity or surround (3 screens for gaming) then the 7970 will be the way to go since it has 3gb of vram which will help.

Well hate to break the bad news to you but most reply's your going to get are going to be blanket statements with no proof whatsoever or fanboy related but the correct answer is one will be better than the other basically they both essentially the same in performance overall. Depending on which games you intend to play, one will perform better than the other. The GTX 670 will perform better in your preferred game-types (BF3, GTA IV, open world games like Skyrim and Fallout 3). It's also considerably quieter, and allows gaming with PhysX and Adaptive VSync.

here's a review of gtx 670 SLi/Tri SLi scaling-
http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1625084&mpage=5 But if you prefer games like Dirt 3 and Alien Vs Predator and want to do anything else like use OpenCL applications, transcoding, WPA/WEP Cracking, RAR Cracking, Bitcoin Mining etc than it really better to get. (7970's).

well i wanted to use 2 gtx 670 pe to save money, but at 420 we have only 2gbv versions and 4gb version costs 500eur and for 930 i have gtx 690 with 4gb. so i guess i will forget the 110 eur save and just go with 690

also any idea about sli for 690? if i link it with 670 it probably has to be 670 4gb version so both cards can use 4gb vram of the first card?

thank you

This can be solved with one question.
To overclock or not to overclock?
August 14, 2012 3:41:12 PM

no i dont overclock ever :)
so options are so many now for my 5760x1080 and questions:
1. msi gtx690 4gb 931eur
a) are actually all 4gb of vram used? i red somewhere that one core uses 2gb and other also other 2gb of vram. is it a problem in regard to performace?
2. 2x zotac gtx670 4gb 500eur each
b) does sli and crossfire work in way that gpu of both cards use only vram of the one card? then vram of other card is just not used at all.
3. 2x zotac gtx680 4gb 600eur each
stock frequency starts on boost of zotac gtx670 4gb
4. 2x gigabyte radeon 7970 oc 420 eur each

For 5670X1080 my 7970s are quite a bit faster than the 680 that I also have. A 7970 has a 384 bit bus and 3 GBs of vram ram, and for $30 more than the 670 is worth it. Once you start to overclock the 7970 will blow the 670 out of the water

For anything above 2560 x 1600 the 7970 anything lower the 670
