4850x2 upgrading, what do you guys think

Being a computer science major I try to research as best possible, even though being a programmer does not make me an expert on hardware, I really enjoy researching, and all the different ways to build a top machine that being said I've been holding on to my 4850x2 for a very long time. Its been a great card and served me well but its obviously really big, and gets extremely hot, its not really that efficient I call it the muscle car video card. I have been waiting for the 7000 series cards to come out before upgrading, these are the two cards I have been looking at

They are the same card but the second one has some extras and I cant tell if its just stuff to jack the price up fifty dollars or worth the extra money. Also do you think this will be a noticeable upgrade performance wise? If not should I be waiting to afford a 7000 series and if so please leave suggestions. Thanks in advance to the wonderful toms hardware community...
