Just visit http://www.testmobile.com

Hope this helpfull.

*coolest test mobile that I used: Nokia 7600, unique shape, high

Well it might be if that page took you anywhere useful. All I got was a
few pictures and an address in Indonesia. No links, prices or anything of
any use.

Ivor

PS would *you* send money to someone in Indonesia..? Why can't someone
local supply these..?

Not really. Indonesian webpage, that is far from complete.

And I liked this quote.
"These are not ordinary Nokia mobiles, they are programmed field test
mobiles..."

If this is the case, then it's only a flashfile away.

Yes, the webpage is far from complete, but you can always send them
email for the price.
Field test (aka. netmonitor) in DCT4 is all about flashfile/firmware.
Who has this firmware? only Nokia and someone that has access to
Nokia. Well, maybe later on the firmware will be available for public
and we can make our own field test phone, but I doubt it will be next
year or two or three... This 'hope' already came up since the first
DCT4 netmonitor released.
This is already a good news that you don't have to be a network
operator to have a DCT4 netmonitor. :) Try to ask Nokia to buy this
phone and you'll see that they threat DCT4 netmonitor like a gun, you
must be this, that, and so on..

So I'm assuming you're either a representative or a customer that has
bought a phone, so tell us what is the price..? I have no intention of
sending anyone an email, I want to see it on the website.

7600 (3G): $560, tax included. I'm not sure about other types.

Would that be *US* dollars ? Because if it is, that's bloody expensive for
a 7600.

I only paid £45($83USD) here in the UK for a new 7600, and that
included £15 worth of airtime on ThreePay.

@rob
Whoa.. should I explain what can a field test mobile do? lock on
specific channel, force to use barred cell, force to use selected
band, gprs/edge parameters, neighbour cells, etc.
Usefull only for engineer or hobbyist.

@michael
The price is more expensive than ordinary 7600, but it worth it and
actually it's cheap compared to what you can do with it. At least
that's my opinion. Stay with ordinary 7600 if you are a normal user
and don't care about the function at all.
Anyway, the price is not bloody expensive for sim free field test
7600, it's your price that's bloody cheap for ordinary 7600. I'll
order 100 pieces of it if you can provide me brand new 7600 for US$100
per piece, not only US$83. And for sure I'll order another hundreds
(maybe thousand) pieces if the first 100 pieces working fine.
Seriously, and you can have all the £15 airtime, I don't need it.

Order them yourself, they're £39.99 at Amazon or £44.99 at Carphone
Warehouse (when they get some more stock in).

As for what you can do with NetMon, for the casual user there is very little
point having it on the phone - infact it can be more trouble than it's worth
with the inherent dangers of some of the settings.

@Richard
Thanks for showing the path..
As for test mobile for normal user, you are absolutely right. Wrong
test setting will disable the phone. There's no advantage for them,
only trouble ;)

You can generally get it back though.

Old pal of mine had it enabled on a 6150 (?) was trying to show off with it
in the pub so I set it to cell barr while he was in the loo, he couldnt use
the phone for weeks until I told him what id done ;-)

If this site is genuine my company would be interested in getting stuff from
them as Nokia can charge silly money for test phones and all it is a flash
file that they put on, cant be that hard surley?

That's what I was trying to tell everybody, Nokia will charge you alot
of money and limited to GSM people.
I got my 6220 for edge & 7600 for 3G, so far so good.

Generally (on DCT3 handsets, definately), but not always. I've got a 6310i
sitting here at the moment that's going to be more than a 2 minute job to
fix just because some twonk didn't know what they were doing with NetMon.

Yes, but that was a DCT3 phone. Some of the settings in NetMon are nigh-on
irreversible on DCT4 handsets.

It is to do with the flash file, but it's a bit more complicated than that.
Mind you, I agree with your assessment of Nokia's pricing, but I'd have
major reservations dealing with an Indonesian dealer bearing in mind the
costs involved.

I think I just found from where Netmonitor Phones comes (except Nokia
of course):
http://www.phones-direct.ro/uk_netmon.htm

Lot of info to see here about Netmonitor phones... nice videos.
and small surprise... link as distributor to ASIA to your Indonesian
testmobile site.

What I need to find now is a distributor for USA, and Netmonitor for
my new Symbian OS phone.

I will dig on.
