6950 bios switch problem

Hey guys i was wondering why my HIS HD 6950 2gb doesnt boot when i set the bios switch to 1 but works when its switched to 2?? I wanted to unlock this to the 6970 but according to what they say my bios switch must be set to position 1, but i cant since it wont boot at all. Any ideas on how to fix this?? Oh and btw i brought this of someone who was selling on TradeMe

Well you might have had a bricked card. They probably failed at flashing it.

I've probably got the same card as you (HIS 6950) and I flashed mine to a 6970. Have you seen this guide:

yeah i have seen that guide, its the one telling me that i must have my bios switched to number 1 but since i cant access number one i cant unlock it. Just curious though is it worth the hassle unlocking the card??

Well I'd say it is. You're basically getting 6970 performance for less than you spent for a 6970.

Load your computer with the switch in 2, and then when you are running WinFlash, switch it to 1 and flash it. Then try it.
