Hey guys, building a new rig, need someone to tell me if this is all compatible :)

GPU - http://www.dabs.com/products/evga-geforce-gtx-550-ti-951mhz-1gb-pci-express-hdmi-7DV3.html

MOBO - http://www.dabs.com/products/asus-m5a97-le-r2-0-am3--amd-970-ddr3-atx-87T0.html

RAM - http://www.dabs.com/products/corsair-xms3-8gb--2-x-4gb--ddr3-1600mhz-dimm-240-pin-cl9-1-65v-75H5.html

CPU - http://www.dabs.com/products/amd-phenom-ii-x4-965-3-4ghz-black-edition-am3-socket-l2-l3-8mb-6B0X.html

The reason I went with the older AMD cpu is because I've heard nothing but bad things about the Bulldozers. Based on what I saw, apparently the Phenom X4 965 is better than the Bulldozer Quad Core equivelant.

Thanks!

Yup, everything is compatible.
What PSU?

Is this a gaming rig? If so, why are you going with a amd setup instead of intel? For games, an i3 is better than a phenom II.

Hey mate, thanks for replying so quickly. The PSU is a 600W ThermalTake, I can't remember exact brand. Basically the reason I'm going with AMD over Intel is because I'm more familiar with AMD boards and AMD in general, so I'd rather stick to my comfort zone. I'm not going to be heavily gaming, just things like WoW, Skyrim, CoD etc. Nothing that is really going to push my PC to the extreme.

Aight, sounds good. I'm not at all against the phenom II family, they're a great way to get a cheap quad core and excel at multitasking for their price.
For a pure gaming machine the i3 is better per dollar though. And since you can't overclock it, there isn't anything complicated about the motherboard, mostly plug and play. Stick with whatever you like though.

The PSU should be fine.

Thanks for your help mate. I get really paranoid when doing a new build, especially since the last time I built a pc was 2008. So I'm quite confused when it comes to all these new components, haha.

it is, but it doesn't make any real world performance difference. If you want to save some money, you can grab the 1333.

That said, I just looked at dabs.com's products and it seems the one you picked is cheaper than the 1333... Kinda wierd but wtvr, just stick with it I guess.

Yeah, lmao. I did notice that myself, kind of confused me as well. I'll stick with the 1600MHz, thanks for the heads up though, it's appreciated. :)
