AMD Radeon hd 7770 or Nvidia GeForce gtx 550 ti?

Both are 1gb. I want to know overall which one performs better and lasts longer, I've hears they're pretty close in price and proformance. Any opinion is welcome. Thanks.

i just got an asus HD7770. i got it because it is a newer generation card, uses less power then the geforce 5 series and will allow me to use 2 monitors with one card unlike the geforce 5 series where you would need an SLI setup to use more than 2 monitors.

although if the 660 was out i would have gotten that instead of it.i never did trust or hear good things about ATI drivers. i find the latest cat drivers have a few quirks. nothing major just little annoyances.

Sorry I. A bit of a noob when it comes to this, I don't think I have a power supply problem when it come down to it ( this build would have a 700 watt power supply) so I was kind of confused about what you said. So do you think he GeForce gtx 550 to would work better or on par with your radeon 7770? I would love a reply.

I'd go with the 7770. Mainly because its a newer card and it uses less power and is about the same performance. Along with the drivers tweaks down the road, it can perform better than the 550ti with drivers enhancements.

Since the 7770 uses less power; in theory, it will run cooler so you will achieve better overclocks which leads to better performance than the 550ti. (if you choose to overclock)

The 7770 heavily outperforms the 550ti no matter overclocks or power usage, up to like 35-40% in extreme cases.
I agree that nvidia has a better driver situation but the performance difference is worth the quirks.
And yes the 7770 can consume as little as 70% of the power of the 550ti at load under normal situations.
