Hi, first tread so hope it went to the right category!

I just fired up my old gamin computer and thought of makin some cheap upgrades to keep it pretty updated.

Right now I got

CPU: AMD Phenom 8450 3x 2.1ghz
4gb DDR2
Asus 9800gtx+
XFX 750a SLI
WCD Green 1tb 5200rpm

I did try some games and they went smooth on ULTRA/HIGH ( games like Mafia 2, Starcraft 2 - HOTS) and when i look at my GPU specs the heat never went higher than 50c and usages is about 30-50%. So I think the 9800 will stay awhile But the CPU is prob the bottleneck is this setup so I looked with some of my friends and found some stuff:

Motherboard: P5Q Se Plus

CPU: intel core 2 quad q9550 2.84GHz
CPU Cooler: Freezer 7 Pro rev.2

4x1 Gb DDR2
DIMM1: Corsair XMS2 CM2X2048-6400C5
DIMM1: Corsair XMS2 CM2X2048-6400C5
DIMM2: Corsair Dominator CM2X2048-8500C5D
DIMM2: Corsair Dominator CM2X2048-8500C5D
Sata 250GB 7200 rpm Barracuda (7200.10)

So my question; Is it worth to lay about 150dollars on that upgrade to squeeze some more of my old gamin rig? Or should I Just save up cash for a brand new build?

The Q9550 is a great CPU and the P5Q is a decent board from ASUS it can OC pretty good. The Q9550 can keep up with most current CPUs and for $150 I would jump on that deal.

What is your current motherboard? Their might be support for an Phenom II chip. That would cause much less hassle and work if it does. No need to reformat, just probably a reactivate of Windows at most.
