Hard Drive on New Build

I'm planning on building my first computer soon and i wanted to know if i could use the hard drive I'm using now and put it into my future PC without having to buy a brand new hard drive along with a OS. (I'm also thinking about getting an SSD and wanted to know how to get the OS onto the SSD from the hard drive I have now).

id suggest buying the SSD now and installing a hard drive later on since its much easier to add a hard drive to a system than to add a SSD to the system since you would have to reinstall the OS and its files on the SSD, reactivate windows, and reformat the hard drive

you can just use your existing HD and update the drivers for the motherboard. though you may need to buy another OS key since the activation is tied to your old motherboard
