Hello all,

I am putting together a system for large data analysis, and I need a system with 64 gb ram. The following setup has been recommended, but I want to make sure that it seems like it will work out. Please let me know what you think.

Intel i7-3930k
ASUS PX9X79 LE
G.SKILL 64GB 2133 RAM
EVGA GTX 560
2x (RAID 1) Western Digital 1 TB HDD 6Gb/s
Samsung 830 256k SSD
Corsair Obsidian 550D Mid ATX case
Corsair HX 750W
Corsair H100

Thanks.

It's OK but you can do even better. But it will be quite a bit more expensive than what you've got here.

Buy this motherboard

And two Opterons.
If you want the best performance buy two 16 core ones.

Or if you want it to be a bit cheaper buy two 12 core ones.

Either way it will be a lot more powerfull than the system you listed.
And ugh you don't need the water cooler if you arent going to overclock.

With this system you'll also need a bigger case like this

or this one

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into those options. Right now, I think that I have about $3,000 in the budget. It might go up a bit, so I could have a few more options. I should get a final budget next week, then I need to move forward pretty quickly.

As for the overclocking, the tech that is doing the actual assembly was thinking that the 3930k system would be overclocked, but I am not sure exactly what he has in mind.
