I feel it needs a few things.
1. the sniper scope magnification is a bit weak.
2. all weapons but especially the shotgun are underpowered.
3. soldier bodies and especially the heads are a bit small.
4. AA missiles area little slow and don't track any better then BFV sa-7's
5. the AT kit missile is far too weak and has short range. ( I can live
with one or the other condition not both).
6. the LAV/BTR apc is too tough.
7. the radial tactical radio comands is not very intuitive.
8. standard assault kit is a bit too accurate at range.
On the plus side the sprint function is brilliant.
The iron sights are interesting.
The graphics are top drawer and the physics seem good.
Driving a 60 ton vehicle feels more ponderous now and slowing tank rate
of fire is a good thing.
Helicopters seem more susceptible to damage from ground fire now, good.
the support trooper seems well balanced.
just impressions as I play -only have four or five hours in so far.

the Sniper rifles seem VERY underpowered,
shooting people at far flags, that were very tiny, kept getting hit
indicators, but hardly any kills...
maybe Assualt rifle bullets might only sting at 1000 feet,
but full size magnum bullets should blow big holes in people.
the Q and rotary radio commands is odd and slow,
but we prob will get used to it.
and prob can bind number pad keys to imitate the old Bf1942 F1 F2 keys.
ground vehicles are very good, helicopters fly a bit weird, but okish.
the fast jets are either too fast or too slow, and the map is too small
for them, pretty much the same with Bocage day 1, blink and off the map.
the first patch should fix some of the quirks or problems.

Good round up there.
I won't be pre-ordering and rushing in to buy BF2 like I was planning to if
the demo is anything to go by. Very disappointed with the demo, especially
the dumbed down aircraft physics and the lack of realism. I can't see
Trauma Studios (R.I.P) being overly impressed with this product somehow!
What a wasted opportunity to make a potentially great and classic
out-of-the-box game that doesn't seem to have delivered for so many people.
Yet again, it will take a mod to tap into the full potential of BF2.
Back to Desert Combat for me.

I was just thinking before, it'd be great to hear from any of the Trauma
Studios guys what went on, how DICE treated them and so on.
I can see it now with all the DICE guys interrogating TS...
DICE: "So, how did you make those helicopters in Desert Combat feel
realistic?"
TS: "Well you see, we did it like this..."
DICE: "Sorry guys, we really want to aim BF2 at our 5 year old age group of
consumers, we can't do that. Thanks for showing us inside how you developed
Desert Combat. Some handy information there for us now or in the future.
Time to close you guys down now that we own you and you have shared all your
secrets. Intellectual Property is a bitch."
